Marakopa beach and falls

Took a trip over to Marakopa beach/falls today. It was worth the extra 15 minute drive to go to the beach, black sand with wonderful blue/green seas pounding the beach in the sunshine. Had a lovely family walk on the sands, had a paddle and clambered on the rocks.

Went to the waterfalls on the way back, they are stunning, fantastic, and it is a nice little walk through the bush to see the falls, well worth it.

Stopped off at the natural bridge on the way back, just a few more kms down the same road on the way back to Waitomo. Saw 35 million year old oyster fossils and the stunning natural bridge of limestone that is the only remainder of a large cave that used to run through the karst.

Long day, bit burnt again, even though I was covered up with T-shirt and hat. The reflection off the sea must have been the cause of my burnt face, coz I had my hat and sun cream on all the time.
