Te Waihou walkway and Blue Spring...

Went on a lovely walk this afternoon to the Te Waihou walkway. Only about half hours drive from Cambridge and the spring is pouring pure water in to the river. It is a lovely blue colour, and the water from the spring takes about 50-100 years to filter through the Mamaku plateau.
The river is so clear, and you can plainly see the trout swimming round. It has this lovely bluey green hue to it, almost like looking in to a swimming pool
The kids went for a little swim later on, but I only ventured in to paddle, it was bloody freezing!! The water is a constant 11 degrees C all year round, but there was one brave soul who stood there in his shorts and had a wash down even doing his hair! He said it was the perfect cure for a hangover, would have thought it would kill you that temperature :)
