Roasting chestnuts on fire..

Just went for a hobble down by the river before the sun set. Nice little path, on the way, found a load of chestnuts on the floor, as well as huge pine cones. Now Jan and the kids are roasting them on the fire outside using the pine cones as fuel, looks really cozy, their faces lit by the flames, sat around, Jan with her pineapple vodka drink looking on.

There is a load of bamboo growing there too, lost of it already down, so going to have some when I able to hack it into manageable pieces. The main bamboo shoots are about 30-50ft high, amazing to look at.

It was lovely, with little fantails buzzing around us, chasing the flies in the dusk, one even landed on a branch Kieran was holding! A harrier made an appearance, making its calls to it's hunting partner in the distance as the trout splashed on the surface below having their feed before night fell.
