Laugh tonight!!

Kieran was invited to be an altar server tonight at the ordination of the new deacon. As Jan is involved in the school PTFA, she was doing the catering for the after service celebration. Louisa didn't want to go to the mass and wanted to help her mum, so they went off to do that as I went to church to watch the ceremony. Louisa was a star too, pouring tea for the guests, handing out cake etc. She did a marvellous job.
The church service was lovely too, Kieran did fantastically well. There were 35 priests and deacons present plus the Bishop of Hamilton. Kieran did most of the altar work and it was lovely to see him looking so grown up and responsible.

Afterwards in the church hall was great. There were over 200 people there and all were well fed and watered. Kieran and his other mate Tom were given a nice gift by the new deacon for their help, and as there was a load of wine and beer left, he handed it out to us olds for our efforts this evening (after he took his own share of course for the extended family celebration :D)

I was just going through the evening with Jan and I happened to mention that what we do with the community is how we get along, we get stuck in, mix a bit, and just enjoy other people's company. And the important thing is, our kids see this, and they too reap the benefits in getting invited to do important events like this evening. Things like this get noticed, and it was on somebody else's recommendation for a 'sensible' boy that he was invited to do this service.

So it was a good night, different, but good nonetheless.
